A person attempted to climb the Trump Tower in New York, reaching the 21st floor before security agents detained him and pulled him into the building. This mixed-use building houses private condominiums, restaurants, shops, and an elevated atrium open to the public.
Independent journalists present at the scene shared videos showing security agents evacuating people from the atrium and police subsequently leaving the building, equipped with helmets and safety harnesses similar to those of specialized rescue responders.
Over the years, Trump Tower has been the scene of various situations, from protests to bomb threats and occasional stunts. On this occasion, emergency teams intervened on Monday, April 21, when an individual was detected attempting to access the building's roof, with his intentions unknown.
It is reported that the man, considered to be "emotionally disturbed," is still inside the building, where the Technical Assistance Response Unit (TARU) and the New York police hostage negotiation team coordinated to prevent him from carrying out his plans. Journalist Oliya Scooter Caster reported that the individual was detained on the fifth floor after a few minutes of negotiation, but his exit from the building has not yet been confirmed.
The New York City Police arrived at the skyscraper around 4:30 PM, where President Donald Trump owns a penthouse, to address the situation.
